Mikah's First Few Weeks

The first few weeks Mikah has been with us have been exciting, exhausting, challenging, and wonderful all together. We've been so blessed by our church group bringing us food the first week (and while I was on bed rest too) and my mom being here to cook us delicious meals. Our nights have been long. Mikah eats every 2-3 hours and usually goes right back to sleep. He is very gassy and grunts all the time. Dakota was like that too. Neither boy was colic but just sounded like their tummy's hurt all the time. He makes the funniest little goat noise. Joby calls him "goat." Dakota still doesn't sleep well so we are up with him at least once every night, making for some very long and tiring nights! Mikah is a fast eater. He takes care of business for the most part except those times I have to fight to keep him awake to eat! He's already turning his head and lifting it. Every once in awhile we get that precious little smile, which is probably just gas but still precious! ha

After the first couple of days of being home we noticed Mikah looking a little jaundice. His first doctors appointment wasn't scheduled until he was two weeks but we got him in at a week and got his bilirubin checked. This kid was a champ! He cried for just a few seconds after getting his little heel pricked and squeezed and then was out again. Dakota was so worried about him though. He didn't like that his little brother was crying. The level was pretty high but the doctor just said keep him in front of the window to get lots of sunlight. I feel like I'm frying him in the sun! Hopefully this helps!
